On 11 December 2022, the Music Section of the Hungarian Academy of Arts held a concert in honour of the birthdays of the Hungarian composers in the Great Hall of the Budapest Vigadó. This year, Péter Nógrádi and Ferenc Sapszon celebrated their 70th birthdays, Dénes Szabó and Kálmán Záborszky their 75th, and Károly Botvay his 90th. The National Ensemble of Hungary, the nearly quarter-century-old Cantemus Choir and its surprise instrumental guests performed a special programme of mostly contemporary compositions. The presenter was Gábor Mohai, who – as a surprise – was also specially greeted at the end of the concert on the occasion of his 70th birthday. At the concert, MMA President György Vashegyi paid tribute to the birthday celebrations and, of course, a piece was performed in honour of each of the birthday celebrations. Zoltán Kodály, David Conte, Péter Nógrádi, Bence Kutrik, Gyula Bánkövi, Eric Whitacre and Levente Gyöngyösi.
