KODÁLY “SOUNDING TOTAL EDITION” SERIES
ON THE 140TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMPOSER’S BIRTH
In the framework of the concert series spanning the 2022/23 concert season, the Hungarian Radio Choir will perform all of Zoltán Kodály’s works written for choir as a vocal ensemble edition, in collaboration with the participating choirs. An event like this has never been seen before. It is the first time in Hungarian music that all of Kodály’s choral compositions – including oratorio and a capella works – will be broadcast in a single season. The scale of the mission makes it unthinkable without the involvement of collaborating ensembles. The Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir is the first to be mentioned, as they perform some of Kodály’s works for children’s choir. The choirs of the Zoltán Kodály Hungarian Choir School and the Cantemus Choir of Nyíregyháza also contribute to the full children’s choir volume. Women’s and men’s choirs will complete the programme, which will be interpreted by the Béla Bartók Chamber Choir of Szolnok and the Honvéd Male Choir.
The concert will be recorded by MR3 Bartók Radio on site.
