XXIX Paul Veczán Church Music Choir Meeting
The choir meeting was the brainchild of Pál Veczán, a Lutheran deacon, who first convened the first meeting of church-related choirs in this form three decades ago. Later on, what was originally a church choir meeting was given the name “church music” to allow choirs that are not church-affiliated to sing liturgical works to perform. The original concept was that from Thursday to Sunday the singing would take place in different churches in the city, with five to ten participating choirs interpreting the music at a time. The school choirs performed mostly on the first day, while the Sunday concert was a kind of gala concert. In recent years, the programme has changed somewhat, and the Sunday event has often been linked to a commemorative event.
The Cantemus Mixed Choir contributes to the event with a public rehearsal demonstration of its methods!
