How does the title of Carmina Burana continue? “Secular songs for singers and choirs, for singing together with instruments and magical images”. This is what this concert will be like! The concert opens with Mozart’s sparkling concerto for two pianos, which the composer first performed with his own sister, but later performed in Vienna with one of his pupils, who then made the orchestration even more raucous. The work is celebratory in all its aspects, in which the two soloists can exuberantly perform in the company of the orchestral accompaniment. Orff’s Carmina Burana sets the stage for the secular poetry of the Middle Ages, in which gods and goddesses such as alcohol and fortune are also featured. So the show is at once festive, joyful and special.
